Titanic Work of Italian Prisoners

In the Carpathians you can find a small unremarkable village Vorokhta, in which there is absolutely nothing, except the incredible beauty of nature and the unique stone bridge – viaduct. The bridge reminds of something like the Glenfinnan Viaduct, shot in Harry Potter. But this one has much more interesting history.

Hidden Venice

Maybe everyone of you knows that in Venice there are no cars, but at all. All locals there move with the help of the boat. And…can it be possible that something could happen with the person and the boat will be left for itself?..   We walked around some streets of Venice, and have found some of that […]

Frozen Boat

Walking by the embankment of Danube I have found this old frozen ship. It was completely impossible to get inside as the surface near it was quite unstable and I was risking to fall under the ice with every step. But nevertheless it was quite beautiful and impressive ship to stay near.

Unsinkable Armas

It was a sunny spring day when two travellers decided to reach Tarfaya in Morocco and the abandoned ship Armas to see how it is today. They were afraid that the ship would already be dragged to scrap, but everything was in its place…like the ship sank yesterday…

Observing Berlin from the water tower

Heading to the abandoned Olympic village from the train station Elstal, you can see a big complex that probably belongs to the terminus but stays independent from the main station. As it was not the main purpose of our journey we decided to check it on our way back.

Sophia Loren was here…

Rails to nowhere

Half the tracks are buried under sand, and the platforms haven’t seen a train in nearly four decades.

Steel wagon

In the central Georgian city of Gori, best internationally known as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, there is a largely forgotten fragment of Soviet transport infrastructure quietly disappearing behind the city’s active railway terminal. The contrast is striking. Visitors arriving in Gori usually gravitate toward the monumental Stalin Museum, one of the city’s most recognisable […]

Railway line Passau – Hauzenberg

The railway track runs quietly through the Innstadt district of Passau, overgrown but still visible beneath layers of grass and moss. This is the Granitbahn, the local railway that connected Passau to Hauzenberg for nearly a century. In 2016, when I visited, it was the only abandoned site in my home city — a quiet […]
